Brazil stands out in data centers, energy, and startups.
Brazil is at the center of technological and business transformations that impact both the domestic market and the global landscape. In recent days, three major news items have drawn attention: the construction of the country's first export-oriented data center, the growth of the energy storage market, and the presence of more than 370 Brazilian startups at Web Summit Lisbon 2025.
Pecém Data Center: a megaproject in Ceará
The Pecém Data Center, to be built in Ceará, is the first in Brazil focused on exporting digital services. The investment could reach US$2 billion, with an initial IT capacity of 200 MW — one of the largest in Latin America. The operator Omnia, controlled by Pátria Investimentos, announced the project in partnership with Casa dos Ventos, which will supply renewable energy through new wind farms dedicated to the venture.
The operation will feature a closed-loop cooling system, reducing water consumption to approximately 30 m³ per day — a volume comparable to the usage of 70 average households. Although the client's name has not yet been officially released, rumors point to TikTok as the sole contractor.
The project is part of a megaproject worth R$50 billion (US$9.25 billion) and aims to attract large global technology companies, especially in cloud services and artificial intelligence.
Energy storage: the new frontier of the solar sector.
With falling costs and advances in battery technologies, chemical energy storage is taking on a central role in Brazil's energy transition. Atmoce, a global solar technology and storage company, has started operations in the country, focusing on storage systems for both new projects and retrofits of existing systems.
Brazil has the potential to become a global leader in the adoption of energy storage solutions, boosting distributed generation and helping to solve problems such as curtailment caused by the advancement of renewable energy sources. Atmoce's differentiating factor lies in offering cutting-edge technology, enhanced security, and close technical support, in addition to extended warranties.
Brazilian startups shine at Web Summit Lisbon
Brazil arrives at Web Summit Lisbon 2025 with a delegation of over 370 startups and innovative companies from all regions of the country. Coordinated by ApexBrasil and Sebrae, the delegation presents scalable solutions with the potential for international expansion.
The Brazil Pavilion will be officially inaugurated this Tuesday, November 11th, with the presence of the presidents of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, and Sebrae, Décio Lima. The event will also feature ApexPod in Motion, a videocast that will bring conversations with entrepreneurs, experts, and investors, highlighting Brazil as a protagonist in the international innovation scene.
Impacts and debates
These initiatives demonstrate that Brazil is positioning itself as a technology and innovation hub, attracting foreign investment and generating skilled jobs. The Pecém Data Center can boost the economic and technological development of the Northeast, while the growth of the energy storage market contributes to the energy transition and sustainability.
The presence of Brazilian startups at Web Summit Lisbon reinforces the country's commitment to valuing national talent and giving visibility to the stories that are shaping the future of Brazilian innovation in the world.
