Technology Week: AI advances, Samsung innovates, and Brazil

Brazil receives one of the five most powerful AI supercomputers in the world.

Brazil is poised to have a world-class artificial intelligence infrastructure. One of the five most powerful AI supercomputers on the planet will be installed in the country, focusing on strengthening data security and digital sovereignty. The initiative is part of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan, which foresees investments of up to R$23 billion by 2028.

This move puts Brazil in a strategic position on the global AI scene, especially since 541.3% of Brazilians already use generative artificial intelligence — above the world average, according to a survey by Ipsos and Google.

The smartphone market is heating up with deals and new releases.

The mobile device market remains strong. Samsung is offering record discounts on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 and Galaxy Watch8 40mm, with exclusive coupons available at the official store. Meanwhile, the Moto G56 5G is appearing with a discount exceeding 40% at Casas Bahia, making 5G technology more accessible.

Three mid-range smartphones continue to rival flagship models, costing half the price — a trend that redefines what consumers expect from the cost-benefit ratio in this segment.

Microsoft and Samsung make strategic adjustments.

Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 11 26H1 update will be exclusive to the new Snapdragon X2 and Nvidia N1X chips, signaling a hardware differentiation strategy. This decision reflects the growing importance of specialized processors in the software ecosystem.

At Samsung, the company canceled the orange color of the Galaxy S26 Ultra after negative reactions from fans — an example of how community feedback influences design decisions in real time.

AI and education meet in Nova Petrópolis.

The interactive exhibition UMI – Universum Mensch und Intelligenz arrives in Nova Petrópolis this week, with an official opening for authorities this Wednesday (12), at 4 pm. A result of the partnership between Goethe-Institut and the Max Planck Society, the exhibition invites the public to reflect on science, humanity and artificial intelligence.

Starting Monday (17), schools in the region will be able to schedule visits. The event represents an effort to democratize understanding of AI outside of large urban centers.
