Russia launches largest air offensive against Kiev in weeks.

Moscow launched a large-scale attack against the Ukrainian capital in the early hours of November 15, using approximately 430 drones and 18 missiles, including ballistic and aeroballistic projectiles. The bombardment lasted for several hours, leaving at least six dead and about 30 wounded, including two children and a pregnant woman.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the attack as deliberately calculated, with the aim of causing maximum damage to civilian people and infrastructure. The attacks caused fires in residential buildings in several districts of Kyiv, mainly affecting residential areas.

Context of the Russian offensive

The air offensive comes at a time when Russia is advancing territorially in southern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces withdrew from several villages in Zaporizia during intense fighting against Russian troops, indicating increasing military pressure in the region.

Chile chooses between extremes in presidential election.

Chile held its first round of presidential elections on November 15th, with results that surprised political analysts. Communist Yanet Hara and far-right José Antonio Kast led the vote, advancing to the second round with a difference of only 2 percentage points between them.

Political polarization and key issues

The campaign was dominated by debates on public safety, insecurity, and migration. The result reflects the rejection of Gabriel Boric's government, which ran with a coalition of left-wing parties. The election marks a moment of deep polarization, with candidates from the political extremes winning the leading positions.

President Boric congratulated the finalist candidates and called for a high-level debate in the second round, signaling a commitment to the democratic process despite his coalition's defeat.
