Brazilian delegation brings innovation to Web Summit 2025
Brazil arrives at Web Summit Lisbon 2025, one of the largest global technology and innovation events, with a robust delegation of over 370 startups and innovative companies. The event, which takes place between November 10th and 13th in the Portuguese capital, brings together technology leaders, investors, and entrepreneurs from around the world to discuss trends and opportunities in the sector.
The Brazilian presence is coordinated by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), in partnership with the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae). The delegation represents all regions of the country, signaling the national reach of the internationalization initiative.
Brazil Pavilion officially opened
The Brazilian Pavilion was officially inaugurated on November 11th at 3 PM by the presidents of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, and Sebrae, Décio Lima. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking authorities, including the Brazilian ambassador to Portugal, Raimundo Carreiro, and representatives from strategic agencies such as Serpro and Embratur.
“"ApexBrasil remains committed to supporting the internationalization of Brazilian startups, and the Web Summit is one of the main initiatives to achieve this goal," Jorge Viana highlighted during the inauguration.
Opportunities for international expansion
The massive participation of Brazilian startups reflects the country's strategy to strengthen its innovation ecosystem and create bridges for international expansion. The companies present bring scalable solutions and potential for growth in European and global markets.
The event offers opportunities for networking, business partnerships, and attracting foreign direct investment, crucial elements for the development of the Brazilian technology sector.
Broader context: digital transformation on the agenda
Brazil's presence in Lisbon coincides with the country's progress on its digital modernization agenda. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) is participating in the XXX International Congress of CLAD in Asunción, presenting advancements in the digital transformation of the State and in federal coordination.
Furthermore, Brazil will soon host the world's largest event in the solar energy sector, marking the first time the event has left China, reinforcing the country's position as an innovation hub for clean technologies.
Challenges in business adaptation
Not everything is cause for celebration in the Brazilian tech scene. Recent research shows that many companies have not yet adapted to the tax reform, the first phase of which comes into effect in January 2026. This scenario represents a parallel challenge that the sector will need to face in the coming months.
