Brazil stands out in global events and leads in technology salaries.
In recent days, Brazil has reaffirmed its prominent position in the global business, technology, and startup landscape. With a significant presence at Web Summit Lisbon 2025, the country brought over 370 startups and innovative companies to the world's largest technology event, reinforcing its potential for international expansion and innovation.
Web Summit Lisbon 2025: Brazil in the spotlight
Between November 10th and 13th, Lisbon hosted the Web Summit, one of the leading global events for technology and innovation. Brazil was one of the protagonists, bringing a delegation from all regions of the country, coordinated by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae). The Brazilian Pavilion was officially inaugurated on November 11th by the presidents of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, and Sebrae, Décio Lima, with the presence of several Brazilian authorities and international representatives.
This mobilization reinforces Brazil's commitment to supporting the internationalization of national startups, highlighting scalable solutions with the potential for global expansion. It is estimated that the event will attract more than 70,000 people, increasing the visibility of Brazilian companies in the international market.
Tech salaries: Brazil leads in Latin America.
In addition to its presence at events, Brazil also leads in Latin America in compensation for technology professionals. According to the report "The State of Global Compensation 2025" by the multinational human resources firm Deel, Brazilian engineers and data scientists earn, on average, US$67,000 annually, equivalent to approximately R$359,000 per year or R$31,800 per month.
This figure surpasses neighboring countries like Mexico and Argentina, which have average annual salaries of US$48,000 and US$42,000, respectively. Despite this, there is still a significant gap compared to markets like the United States and the United Kingdom, where salaries can exceed US$150,000 per year.
It is important to note that, while technical fields offer competitive salaries, roles related to sales, marketing, and design remain far from the standards of the main global technology hubs.
Innovation and sustainability in business for 2025
The business landscape for 2025 points to a convergence between technological innovation and sustainability. Small businesses are advised to invest in technologies such as artificial intelligence and service personalization to remain competitive. Experts emphasize that companies that combine innovation with ethical and sustainable purposes tend to thrive in challenging environments.
Public initiatives and promotion of innovation
Recently, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) launched the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) as Brazil's first Digital Public Asset during COP30. This initiative represents an advance in the integration between technology and sustainability, reinforcing Brazil's commitment to open and interoperable digital solutions to address climate and social challenges.
Meanwhile, state governments, such as that of Paraíba, have invested in programs to support local entrepreneurs, especially in low-income areas, offering financial resources and technical training to strengthen innovative businesses with social and economic impact.
Impacts and challenges
Brazil's prominent role in international events and leadership in compensation indicate an expanding technology market, capable of attracting investment and promoting innovation. However, the country faces challenges in balancing salaries across all areas of the sector and increasing business sustainability.
Discussions on public policy, fostering innovation, and digital inclusion will be essential to consolidate this growth and ensure that Brazil remains competitive and fair in its technological development.
