Investment in AI and digital sovereignty

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) announced an investment of R$35 million to boost research and development in artificial intelligence in Piauí. The goal is to strengthen digital sovereignty and accelerate innovation in data science, focusing on solutions for local and national challenges.

Digital policies and data protection

Meanwhile, the Brazilian government is preparing changes to the minimum age for using social media and AI. Starting in 2026, messaging apps will be recommended for users aged 12, social media for 16, and AI chatbots for 14. This measure requires app stores and digital providers to verify users' ages, directly impacting companies like Apple, Google, Meta, and TikTok.

Challenges for businesses and tax reform

Recent research reveals that 671,300 Brazilian companies do not use tools for automatic validation of tax documents, which could increase the risk of inconsistencies with the tax reform. Experts warn of the need for investment in automation and specialized consulting services by the end of the year.

Environmental impact and innovation

Minister Luciana Santos emphasized that innovation and technology need to serve the environment, especially in the decarbonization of industry and agriculture. The new national supercomputer, named Jaci, reinforces the country's capacity in environmental monitoring and climate risk management.
