Innovation on the rise: Brazil and Portugal make their mark at

A week of focus for technology and innovation in the Iberian Peninsula and Brazil.

While Lisbon hosts the Web Summit 2025 and Portugal presents programs for access to supercomputers for startups, Brazil consolidates its position in agricultural innovation in Europe and invests in digital transformation in states like Rondônia. The week of November 10-13 marks a turning point: technology ceases to be merely a tool and becomes a protagonist in solving economic and environmental challenges.

Portugal invests in advanced computing for SMEs.

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) presented the InoVIA Program this Wednesday (November 12th) at Web Summit 2025 in Lisbon. The initiative offers innovation vouchers that allow quick access to supercomputers such as Deucalion and MareNostrum 5, aimed at startups and small and medium-sized enterprises.

The session "Advanced Computing Opportunities for Startups and SMEs" featured João Nuno Ferreira, Vice-President of FCT, as a speaker, and brought together experts such as Astrid van Toor (BlueOASIS) and Julia Masvidal Andreu (Barcelona Supercomputing Center). The objective is clear: to democratize access to artificial intelligence and high-performance computing to accelerate innovation in smaller companies.

Brazil reinforces its leadership in agricultural technology.

Meanwhile, nine Brazilian companies are present at Agritechnica 2025 in Hannover, Germany, the largest agricultural technology fair in Europe. The event, which takes place from November 9th to 15th, expects to receive more than 430,000 visitors from approximately 130 countries.

The Brazilian pavilion showcases cutting-edge solutions: Colombo, J.Assy, Eirene Solutions, Globus Electronics, Indutar, Magnojet, Multibelt, Stara, and Vence Tudo are exhibiting more than five machines and implements, including planters, harvesters with selective spraying, and monitoring systems. This initiative, organized by the Brazil Machinery Solutions (BMS) Program, a partnership between ABIMAQ and ApexBrasil, reaffirms Brazil as a global supplier of high-technology mechanical capital goods.

Technology at the service of the climate.

In Rio de Janeiro, during the pre-COP30 event, the Franco-Brazilian startup Morfo presented an innovative solution for reforestation. Using drones, sensors, and ecological analysis, the company restores degraded areas with automated planting of seeds in biodegradable capsules adapted to each soil type. The system is already operating in municipalities in Rio de Janeiro state, such as Miguel Pereira, and is preparing to expand to regenerate degraded pastures.

The message is clear: economic development and environmental preservation are not antagonistic. Technology is the bridge.

Digital transformation advances in the states.

In Rondônia, the 2nd edition of Conexão Tech.RO (November 10, 11 and 12) brings together students, professionals and enthusiasts for three days of immersion in technology and digital transformation. The event, held in Porto Velho, offers lectures, workshops and certifications, reflecting the state government's commitment to strengthening public management and inspiring new talent.

What changes for you?

These simultaneous movements indicate a reconfiguration of the innovation ecosystem: democratized access to advanced tools (computing, AI), consolidation of sectoral leadership (agribusiness), practical solutions for real crises (climate), and continuous talent development. For startups and SMEs, it means concrete opportunities for scaling. For established companies, it means pressure to innovate or fall behind. For society, it means technology finally serving problems that matter.
