Ibovespa renews record streak with 15 consecutive gains.
The main index of the Brazilian stock exchange, the Ibovespa, maintained its upward trajectory and closed this Tuesday (11) at 157,748.60 points, registering the 15th consecutive rise — the longest sequence since 1994. During the trading session, the index reached 158,467.21 points, surpassing for the first time the marks of 156,000, 157,000 and 158,000 points in a single day. The advance was 1.60% at the close, driven by positive economic data in Brazil and abroad.
The spot dollar followed the movement and retreated 0.62%, closing at 5.2746, reflecting a more favorable external scenario and the repercussions of the Copom minutes and local inflation.
Impacts and context
Despite the strong appreciation of the Ibovespa, which has accumulated a gain of 29% in reais this year, analysts point out that the movement does not fully reflect the Brazilian economic situation, marked by high interest rates, political uncertainties, and structural challenges. The main driver of the advance is the flow of foreign investment, which, although modest in volume (around R$ 20 billion), has a great impact on a market with low local liquidity.
Among the stocks that stood out most in the trading session, Lojas Renner rose almost 41%, followed by Raízen, which advanced 3.5% after selling a plant as part of its restructuring. Magazine Luiza also had a significant increase of 3.4%, closing at 8.42%.
US Senate approves end to shutdown.
In the United States, the Senate approved the end of the shutdown, ending the partial paralysis of the federal government that had been affecting public services and generating uncertainty in the market. The decision was closely watched by global investors, who reacted positively to the political stability and the prospect of continued government operations.
The end of the shutdown contributed to optimism in international markets, positively influencing the Brazilian scenario and reinforcing the flow of foreign capital to emerging assets, such as the Ibovespa.
Perspectives
Experts point out that, although the series of record highs on the stock exchange is a positive sign for the financial market, investors should remain attentive to internal and external risks that could affect the Brazilian economy in the coming months, including fiscal policy, inflation, and the global scenario.
