Brazil launches CAR as the first Digital Public Asset.

At COP30, held on November 11, 2025, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services (MGI) launched the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) as Brazil's first Digital Public Good. The initiative is part of the international catalog of the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA) and represents progress in global cooperation to address the climate crisis through open and interoperable technologies.

Minister Esther Dweck emphasized that technology must go hand in hand with sustainability and social justice, reinforcing Brazil's commitment to using digital innovation to promote effective and equitable climate action.

Brazil leads in tech salaries in Latin America.

According to the report The State of Global Compensation 2025, According to a recently released study, Brazil has the highest salaries for technology professionals in Latin America. Brazilian engineers and data scientists earn an average of US$67,000 per year, equivalent to approximately R$358,900 annually or R$31,800 monthly, a higher figure than in Mexico and Argentina.

Despite regional leadership, the survey points to internal disparities, with technical areas showing competitive remuneration, while sectors such as sales, marketing and design still lag behind international standards.

Starting in 2026, Brazil will raise the minimum age for using social media to 16 and for messaging apps to 12, according to new guidelines from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. These measures, which accompany the entry into force of the Digital ECA (Statute of Children and Adolescents), aim to increase the safety of children and adolescents in the digital environment, requiring age verification and access restrictions.
