Brazil launches national satellite 100% and encourages IT training.
In recent days, Brazil has taken important steps in the area of technology, most notably with the launch of the first national satellite, 100%, developed by the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), scheduled for the end of November 2025. The satellite will play a fundamental role in climate monitoring, reinforcing the country's commitment to innovation and sustainability.
Furthermore, the Senate Science and Technology Committee approved a bill that grants tax incentives to companies that promote the training of young people between 18 and 29 years old in information and communication technology (ICT). Companies will be able to deduct expenses related to these programs from their income tax, provided they are carried out in partnership with qualified educational institutions, thus strengthening the training of a skilled workforce in the sector.
Digital transformation and increasing investments
Brazil is currently the 9th largest global market for ICT investments, with 751 TWO million medium and large companies planning to increase their investments in information technology by 2025. Artificial intelligence (AI) stands out, with 961 TWO million companies already using or planning to use AI in the next 12 months to improve operational efficiency, automation, and customer experience.
The technology sector also shows strength in remuneration, with Brazil leading salaries in Latin America for IT professionals, especially engineers and data scientists, who receive an average of US$67,000 annually. However, internal salary disparities still exist, mainly between technical areas and sales, marketing, and design roles.
Events and innovation in the national scene
Among recent events, the first edition of Digital Week in Santos stands out, bringing together more than 100 speakers, including the CEO of WhatsApp, to discuss innovation and digital transformation. Embrapii (Brazilian Company for Industrial Research and Innovation) also announced investments of approximately R$153 million in green technologies, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and technological advancement.
