Podcast about the subject Listen on Spotify

Artificial intelligence is transforming the credit market in Brazil.

In recent days, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a strategic tool for the Brazilian financial sector, especially in the area of credit. According to the National Association of Credit Bureaus (ANBC), AI is already applied in processes such as instant credit score updates, real-time fraud detection, and automation of statistical models, reducing costs by up to 66% and accelerating the creation of models that previously took weeks, now completed in a few days.

Elias Sfeir, CEO of ANBC, highlights that more than 70% of the new credit models in 2023 incorporated advanced techniques such as machine learning and deep learning, increasing processing speed by 20 times and ensuring greater security and agility in decision-making. Furthermore, the instant removal of negative credit reports allows consumers who settle debts to regain access to credit almost in real time, representing a structural change in the market.

Another important advance is the inclusion of alternative data, such as electricity and telephone bills and social programs, in predictive models, which has contributed to reducing default rates by up to 151% without compromising approval levels. For Sfeir, AI should be seen as an expanded intelligence that amplifies human and institutional capabilities, provided it is used ethically and responsibly.
