The index rose 1.60%, reaching 157,748.60 points, while the dollar fell 0.62%, closing at 5.2746. Despite the impressive performance, analysts warn that the appreciation may be short-term, disconnected from the country's economic fundamentals.

The series of record highs reflects investor optimism about a possible interest rate cut in Brazil. October's inflation slowed to 0.09% — the lowest level for the month since 1998 — and the accumulated IPCA (Consumer Price Index) over 12 months reached 4.68%, below market expectations. Economists point to a more consistent disinflation process, with downside surprises in goods and administered prices.

Skepticism among managers

Investment managers disagree on the sustainability of the rally. While some see room for further gains, institutions like UBS believe that better returns are in technology in the US and Asia, not in Brazilian commodities. The debate reflects a structural concern: the stock market is rising, but detached from the country's real problems — high interest rates, uncertain politics, and fiscal pressures.

PIX consolidates its dominance in payments.

In parallel with the stock market's performance, the PIX instant payment system continues its expansion. In the first half of 2025, transactions via PIX grew by 27.61% and now account for more than half of all financial transactions carried out in Brazil, according to data from the Central Bank.

Foreign trade grows 7.1%

Brazilian trade reached US$540.8 billion by the first week of November. In the week of November 1st to 7th, the country registered a surplus of US$1.811 billion, with exports of US$7.8 billion and imports of US$5.9 billion. Compared to the same period in 2024, there was a growth of 7.11% in trade.

The agricultural sector led the performance, with a growth of 42.21% in exports. The extractive industry declined by 22.71%, while the manufacturing industry advanced by 10.71%.

Investments and credit in focus.

Assaí announced an investment plan of R$700 million for 2026, signaling confidence in the retail sector. Fintech SumUp raised R$850 million to address the credit crisis in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), reflecting the growing need for financial support for small businesses.

Photo by Danylo Harmatiy on Unsplash

Brazilian financial market continues to rise, but distrust persists.
