On Tuesday (November 11), the Ibovespa closed at 157,748.60 points, rising 1.60% and marking its 15th consecutive increase — the longest streak since May-June 1994. During the trading session, the index surpassed the historical marks of 156,000, 157,000 and 158,000 points, reaching 158,467.21 points at its best moment of the day.

The spot dollar fell 0.62%, closing at R$ 5.2746 against the real. Financial agents are pricing in a 67% probability of an interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve in December, which favors risk assets in emerging markets like Brazil.

Foreign trade accelerates

In the first week of November, the Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of US$1.811 billion, with a trade flow of US$13.8 billion. Exports totaled US$7.8 billion and imports US$5.9 billion.

In the year to date, Brazil exported US$297.5 billion and imported US$243.3 billion, generating a positive balance of US$54.2 billion and a trade flow of US$540.8 billion. Comparing the averages of the first week of November 2025 with the same period in 2024, exports grew by 6.41% (from US$1.46 billion to US$1.56 billion), while imports increased by 7.91% (from US$1.11 billion to US$1.19 billion).

Sectoral pressures

Not all sectors are sharing the general optimism. Prices paid by the Brazilian industry for oranges fell in November, signaling either increased supply or reduced demand. This drop directly affects the profitability of small producers and traders who depend on the fruit as their main product.

On the other hand, Assaí, one of the country's main wholesale chains, announced a robust investment plan of R$700 million for 2026, reflecting confidence in the domestic market.

International context

Trading volumes were low on Tuesday, with the US bond market closed for the Veterans Day holiday. Still, the US Senate's approval to end the shutdown contributed to positive sentiment in global markets.

Photo by Vadim Shevyrin on Unsplash

Ibovespa renews historical highs as Brazil expands exports.
