The Brazilian stock exchange (B3) closed Monday (10) at 155,257 points, with an increase of 0.77%, marking the 14th consecutive session of gains. The Ibovespa has already accumulated an appreciation of 29.08% in 2025, the largest since 2019, when it rose 31.58%.

The performance is particularly impressive considering the context of trade uncertainties. Shares of oil companies, mining companies, and banks led the gains, while the commercial dollar closed at R$ 5.307, down 0.55%. The currency has accumulated a decline of 14.12% this year.

Government expands protection for companies affected by tariffs.

While the stock market celebrates, the federal government is working to shield the economy from external pressures. On Wednesday (12), the Ministries of Finance and Development expanded the Sovereign Brazil Plan, a support program for companies affected by tariffs imposed by the United States.

The measure reduces the minimum export impact required to apply for financing from 5% to 1%. According to Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, the initiative seeks to balance negotiations with support for the productive sector, expanding revenue criteria and sectoral scope to include suppliers.

Trade negotiations in Washington

Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Niagara, Canada, during the G7 summit. The two discussed progress on trade tariff negotiations. Brazil had submitted a formal proposal to the United States on November 4th, following a meeting of their technical teams.

The expectation is that Brazil will be able to reverse the 40% tariffs imposed by Donald Trump. The coffee sector, particularly affected, is already reporting a sharp drop in sales to the US, with Americans adapting to the shortage of Brazilian coffee.

Economic data and market expectations

This Thursday (13), the agenda brings important disclosure: the September Monthly Trade Survey, with a projected growth of 0.3% month on month. The market also awaits the Copom minutes and official inflation data, crucial signals for decisions on the Selic Rate.

Economists are analyzing whether lower inflation will create room for interest rate cuts in January, instead of March 2026. Lower interest rates tend to stimulate a shift in investments towards the stock market.

Retail in focus with Black Friday

The retail sector remains under pressure from slowing consumption, despite positive signs. Analysts point out that Black November and Black Friday should benefit the flow of customers to retail outlets, with stocks like Mercado Libre and Raia standing out in investment portfolios.

Photo by Marga Santoso on Unsplash

Financial market in euphoria as Brazil negotiates with Washington.
