Despite the modest movement, the pause signals caution in the market in the face of macroeconomic factors and less optimistic signals from monetary authorities.

Today's highlights on the stock market.

Among the stocks that rose the most, Taísa led with a gain of 5.77%, followed by CSN with a gain of 5.05%. B3, the stock exchange operator, advanced 4.36%, driven by a conference call between its executives and analysts, which explained the business strategies to the market.

Banco do Brasil in the spotlight as profits fall.

In the earnings season, the negative highlight was Banco do Brasil's results. Compared to the previous year, the institution recorded a 601% drop in profit, pressured by rising default rates and increased provisions. The bank again lowered its projections for 2025, signaling challenges in the economic outlook.

Despite challenging internal figures, Banco do Brasil remains active in strategic initiatives. The institution signed a letter of intent with the European Investment Bank (EIB Global) to raise €350 million to support women entrepreneurs and the implementation of clean energy in the Legal Amazon region, an agreement celebrated during COP 30 in Belém.

Government expands aid to companies affected by tariffs.

The government published on Wednesday (12) Ordinance 21, which expands the Sovereign Brazil Plan, a relief program for companies affected by tariffs imposed by the United States. The measure was announced by the Ministries of Finance and Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC).

With credit lines totaling R$30 billion operated by BNDES, the decree broadened the revenue criteria and now also includes suppliers of exporters, with a minimum impact of R$30 billion on gross revenue. Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin emphasized that the government remains attentive to the needs of the productive sector while negotiating with the US.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Niagara, Canada, on the sidelines of the G7 meeting, to discuss the progress of bilateral negotiations on trade tariffs. Brazil had already submitted a negotiation proposal to the United States on November 4th.

Decree on meal vouchers sparks debate in the sector.

President Luiz Inácio Lula signed a decree this week regulating changes to the meal and food voucher system. The measure seeks to implement interoperability between card brands, allowing restaurants to accept any benefit card.

The executive secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Francisco Macena, explained that the government is seeking a technological solution where companies make financial compensations, similar to the single-ticket transportation system in São Paulo. Companies with more than 500,000 employees will have to migrate to the open arrangement model within 180 days.

The measure also prohibits practices considered abusive, such as discounts, rebates, and indirect benefits, with immediate effect. However, the Brazilian Association of Employee Benefits Companies (ABBT) criticized the decree, arguing that the new rules threaten the essence of the social program and reduce control over benefits.

Innovation in focus: Impact business portal

In an initiative aligned with sustainability, the Impacta Brasil Portal was launched at COP 30, showcasing 351 businesses with a positive socio-environmental impact. This virtual showcase is part of the government's effort to promote responsible entrepreneurship.

Photo by Anne Nygård on Unsplash

Brazilian stock market interrupts winning streak.
