Decree 21, published on November 12th by the Ministries of Finance and Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC), expanded the Sovereign Brazil Plan, which offers emergency credit lines totaling R$30 billion operated by BNDES.

The changes make the billing criteria more flexible and broaden the sectoral scope, now including suppliers of exporting companies as beneficiaries. The National Monetary Council (CMN) approved the regulations for these changes to take effect, reinforcing the government's commitment to preserving liquidity, sustaining production, and protecting jobs in the sectors most affected by the so-called "tariff hike" in the US.

The Minister of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC), Geraldo Alckmin, highlighted that the government is simultaneously engaged in diplomatic negotiations with the United States and in providing direct support to the productive sector. In a parallel meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, met with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss bilateral negotiations on trade tariffs.

Banco do Brasil raises 350 million euros to support women entrepreneurs and clean energy.

During COP30, held in Belém, Banco do Brasil signed a letter of intent with the European Investment Bank (EIB Global) to raise €350 million. The funds will be allocated to projects supporting women entrepreneurs and the implementation of clean energy in the Legal Amazon region, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and economic inclusion.

Furthermore, Banco do Brasil launched a campaign with discounts of up to 70% on more than 150 properties available for auction and direct sale, offering opportunities to acquire residential and commercial urban properties in various regions of the country.

Regulation of meal vouchers seeks interoperability between brands.

The federal government has also made progress in regulating the meal and food voucher system. A decree signed by President Lula establishes that companies in the sector must implement an open arrangement model within 180 days, allowing establishments to accept all meal voucher card brands. The measure aims to facilitate financial compensation between companies and expand the acceptance of cards in establishments.

The executive secretary of the Ministry of Labor, Francisco Macena, explained that the system will function similarly to the single public transport ticket, with transparent governance to distribute the funds among participating companies. However, the Brazilian Association of Employee Benefits Companies (ABBT) criticized the decree, arguing that the changes could weaken oversight and reduce control over benefits.

Social and environmental impact businesses gain prominence at COP30.

At the same COP30, the Impacta Brasil Portal was launched, presenting a virtual showcase of 351 businesses with a positive socio-environmental impact. The initiative seeks to foster sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, reinforcing Brazil's role in the global agenda to combat climate change.

Photo by Charles Forerunner on Unsplash

Brazilian Government Expands Access to Credit for Companies Affected by US Tariffs In recent days, the Brazilian government announced important measures to strengthen the productive sector in the face of the impact of trade tariffs imposed by the United States.
